- Scully, Maurice
- (1952- )Irish poet, born in Dublin and who works in what might be termed the modernist tradition. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, where he edited the student literary magazine, Icarus. After some years in Italy, Africa and the west of Ireland, he resettled with his wife and four children in Dublin, where he now teaches part-time at Dublin City University. He founded and edited two literary journals, the Belle and The Beau, and has also edited a number of influential magazines and chapbook series. Through the 1970s and 1980s he organized readings and literary events. Some of his publications: Love Poems and Others, 1981. Five Freedoms of Movement, 1987. Steps, 1998. Livelihood, 2004.
